The device (1) has fitting portions (2,3) which is provided with the internal gears (8,9), and are mounted on a shaft (11) pivotable about a pivot axis (A). A locking gear (4) is arranged between the fitting portions to establish an operative connection between the fitting portions, and is mounted on external gears (5,6) by the shaft. The external gears are coupled together with internal gears, so that fitting portions are coupled in a use position and decoupled in a comfort position. An outer cam plate is provided for securing the external gears.
