The metal and/or ceramic powder compact press arrangement comprises two presses (1,2) which are arranged for successive processing of extruded ceramic and/or metallic material compacts (4), and a transfer device (5) which is arranged for displacing the compact between the presses. The transfer device comprises robots (6-8) which are arranged for the insertion of compact into the processing positions (9-11) within one of the presses. The robot is arranged and programmed for positionally accurate placement of the compact at the respective working position. An independent claim is included for a method of controlling a press arrangement.
