The method involves identifying a lamp (8) of a farther vehicle (9) by using a detection device (4) of a motor car (1). A light intensity of the lamp is determined. A checking process is performed whether the light intensity lies within a given range of values by using an electronic control device (7) of the motor car. Communication signals (11, 12, 16) are generated for the farther vehicle by the control device when the light intensity is in outside of the given range of values. A headlight of the farther vehicle is identified as the lamp. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a device for generating communication signal (2) a motor car.
