The device (1) has a conveying arm (12) which is guided into the container. A conveying unit (13) is arranged or guided at the conveying arm, so that the bulk goods (10) is conveyed from the container with the conveying unit. A radar unit (14) is provided for emitting a radar signal (15). The radar signal is formed for penetration of the bulk goods. The radar unit is formed for detection of objects existing in the container or in the bulk goods by the radar signal. An independent claim is included for a method for operating a device for conveying bulk goods from a container, particularly from a ship loading space.
