The surface cleaning robot (1) has a central suction bell region (4) which is adhered to the vertically extending surface, by generating a negative pressure. The drive wheels (6,7) and optionally one or more traversing wheels are provided, and a cleaning portion (15) is provided with a rotating closed cleaning surface (16), which is formed by a micro fiber cloth. The suction bell region is rotated relative to the cleaning portion in the movable surface.
