The method involves adapting an emission spectrum of LED units i.e. red, blue green-LED units, by adjusting series resistors of respective individual LEDs of the LED units so that a spectrum of an emitted light of the LED units is identical. The adapting of the emission spectrum is carried out by laser trimming, milling, cutting, etching, sputtering, overheating of the series resistors, inserting additional resistors in a line or inserting the line. The LED units are assembled into an illumination unit in a vehicle. An independent claim is also included for an illuminating unit.
