The method involves evaluating a respective reference position of a transponder (20) by triangulation, where the transponder is arranged outside a vehicle (10), and an input variable is set for vehicle guidance. The evaluation is carried out based on the transponder arranged with respect to the surrounding in a fixed manner, or based on the transponder movable relative to the vehicle. A change in position of the transponder relative to the vehicle is evaluated, where one or multiple control variables for fully automatic vehicle guidance are determined from the position change. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a computer program product that is loaded directly into an internal memory of a digital computer; and (2) a vehicle for controlling the operation of a fully automatic driver assistance system, particularly of a parking system, of a vehicle.
