The method involves determining n calibration values by implementation of measuring methods different from each other, where n is a natural number larger or equal to two. A calibration parameter is determined by averaging of the calibration values. Judgment is made whether statistical error of the calibration values is less than systematic error of the calibration values. Marginal current of a diffusion barrier (128) is determined. Average value of the calibration values is obtained when averaging weight of the calibration value. An independent claim is also included for a device for detecting proportion of gas in a measuring gas chamber.
