The supporting device comprises base elements (5) releasably attached to the base. Each base element comprises a frame element (6) that partially removes a panel covering (7). The frame element has a fastening device (10) for attachment of the frame element such that distance between axes of a rotary spindle of the lathe with respect to a substrate is adjustable by supporting the base stacked one above the other.
