The method involves selecting an electrical module from multiple electrical modules according to a predetermined sequence. The selected electrical module is electrically connected with the network. A unique network identification is assigned by the network to the connected electrical module. The connected electrical module is addressable by the network identification. The method is carried out multiple times for each electrical module according to the predetermined sequence, so that each electrical module gets assigned a unique network identification. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) a device for allocating network identifications in an illumination system; and (2) an illumination system with a sensor.
