The device (1) has a roller (2), and a blowing device (7) with an outlet opening (6) whose alignment direction (D) is aligned on a casing surface (9) of the roller. The alignment direction of the opening represents a component in a direction that is oriented parallel to a tangent at a rotation direction (C) of an area of the casing surface of the roller, where the area lies adjacent to the opening. The roller is designed as a cooling roller, where the blowing device is connected to a compressed air source e.g. fan. A hot-air drier and/or IR radiation drier is arranged in front of the roller. An independent claim is also included for a method for drying a print substrate.
