The device (1) has a guiding arm (27) including a retainer for receiving winding goods leaving an extruding station. The winding goods of a rotary winding drum (5) are woundingly transferrable to a winding drum-side end (33) of the guiding arm during a linear to and fro guiding movement of the guiding arm. An eddy current brake is arranged at the guiding arm, and pretensions the winding goods on course of a conveying direction downwards of the eddy current brake. A controller and/or regulator adjusts a tensile pre-loading to be conveyed to the goods based on a winding degree. An independent claim is also included for a method for winding strand-like winding goods on a rotary winding drum.
