The battery charging system (10) has an output terminal (12) that is connected to a to-be-charged battery (14). An input terminal (16) is connected to a power supply (18). A loading electronics (20) is used for controlling the charging process and for charging a residue loading storage portion (22) with energy from the connectable power supply. The loading electronics is configured to part-load the connectable battery with energy from the connectable power supply and to full-load the connectable battery with energy from the residue loading storage portion.
