Pressing tool (1) comprises a base body (7) and at least one functional area (9), which is constructed and arranged such that it is at least partially directly engages with a metal sheet (5) to be processed during the machining of a metal sheet. The base body comprises a structural steel and the function area is formed by a metallic powder coating method on the base body. An independent claim is also included for producing or toughening the pressing tool, comprising providing a base body comprising a structural steel which is made of structural steel, and forming or toughening a functional area on the base body by applying a harder and/or more wear-resistant material compared to the structural steel by a metal-powder coating process.
