The fuel cell has membrane electrode assembly that is located between separator plates (12). The separator plates are provided with channel (14) for distributing reactant. The channel (26) is formed in gas diffusion layers (18). The channel of the separator plate is arranged opposite to channel of the gas diffusion layer. The flow path (28) for reactants is limited through the channel of gas diffusion layer or channel of the separator plate.
