The damper (1) has a damping piston (16) retained in a compensation chamber (15), which is divided into a piston rod-side chamber portion (15a) and a piston-rod remote-side chamber portion (15b). The piston includes a base body arranged on a buffer element with which the piston delimits bearing surfaces (19, 20) against the lifting movement of the piston. The base body is formed for direct sliding contact to an inner surface of the module housing (21). The base body is formed in annular shape, and includes a cylindrical outer surface, which glides on the inner surface of the housing. The base body is formed from a duroplastic material.
