The system (100) has an oxidizer (106) which supplies an oxidant stream to a cathode side of the fuel cell device (102,104). A cathode exhaust passage (108) discharges cathode exhaust gas from the cathode side of the fuel cell device. The fuel cell devices are coupled to a cathode exhaust passage of a first fuel cell device (102), so that cathode exhaust gas is generated through the oxidizer. The oxidant is fed through second fuel cell device (104). An independent claim is included for method for operating fuel cell system.
