A sliding system has a sliding component and a counter component providing in sliding contact with the sliding component. The sliding component has sliding surface partially coated with amorphous carbon, and coated surface is treated with a primary lubricant containing at least one oxygen-containing organic compound. The lubricant is replaced with a friction-reducing lubricant containing hydrocarbon base oil. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) preparation of friction-reduced sliding system; and (2) use of sliding system.
