The sensor (1) has a dye having an optical response which is provided within the sensor main portion that is influenced by the analyte. The medium (3) is provided in the dye. A restriction unit (4) mechanically restricts the change in volume of the medium. The osmolality in the medium is greater than a predetermined maximum osmolality. An evaluation unit quantitative determines analyte from the optical response of the dye. An independent claim is included for measuring device.
