The method involves providing the travel distance with two video cameras (26,28), from which the former video camera monitors the travel distance in the desired-driving direction, so that a vehicle approaches the former video camera. The vehicle is detected by the former video camera and drives against the desired-driving direction on the travel distance. The image processing is performed with respect to the video image data recorded by the former video camera and with respect to another video image data recorded by the latter video camera. An independent claim is included for a system for executing a method for detecting the false driving of a vehicle.
