The method involves determining whether a vulnerable road user (VV) is in environment of a vehicle (1). Position of the vulnerable road user is determined if the vulnerable road user is in the environment of the vehicle. Movement influence characteristics are determined. A motion model of the vulnerable road user is determined based on the calculated motion parameters influence and the determined position of the vulnerable road user. Predicted position of the vulnerable road user is determined by the motion model of the vulnerable road user. An independent claim is also included for a device for determining a movement model of a vulnerable road user.
