The device (RAT) is operated in series with surge protection device (USE). First electric circuit is composed of impedance (Z1), and conductor portion of second electric circuit is composed of shape memory alloy. Switch (S1) is connected in series with parallely connected electric circuits and surge protection device. Head portion of shape memory alloy is switched reversibly using switch. Switching operation of conductor portion is actuated by current flow such that surge protection device is removed reversibly based upon heating of head portion of shape memory alloy.
