The device (AT) has an electric circuit (SK 1) and another electric circuit (SK 2) arranged in a parallel manner. The former electric circuit is arranged with a voltage-switching surge protection element (GDT), and the latter electric circuit is made of a conductor portion of a shape memory alloy (FGL). A switch (S1) is connected in series with a parallel circuit and an overvoltage protection device (USE). The switch is switchable by a conductor portion of the shape memory alloy. The latter electric circuit comprises a low-pass characteristic with regard to the former electric circuit.
