The shoe or boot (1) has drop-shaped knobs (2) that are made of rubber and/or plastic material, and closely distributed over a running surface (3) of the shoe/boot such that the knobs protect a foot against surface irregularities and/or hazardous subject matters from the floor. An outsole is bounded by a sole edge, which survives freely upward over the edge of the running surface of the shoe or boot in a heel and/or toe region and forms a side protection (4).
