Sports shoe with protruding heel sole - has sharply inclined sole tread running up to lower edge of heel upper

Sports shoe is provided with a tread sole (2) of resilient plastics wherein an extension (5) which projects down beyond the lower edge of the heel (30) runs sharply inclined from its rear end towards the lower edge (30) of the upper. At its rear end the extension (5) has half the thickness beneath the rear heel edge (30) and provides improved support comfort for the athlete. The actual shoe base pref. comprises a heel wedge (3) and the tread (2). The latter is extended in its entire thickness over the lower edge of the upper whilst the heel wedge (3) extends over the lower edge (30) but tapers off towards the rear end of the tread (2). Since the heel wedge is normally made from a different material than the tread the combination of materials can control the resilient and damping properties of the sole extension.
