The general field of the invention is that of the optical detection systems of the posture of a moving object in space. The system includes an electro-optical fixed device (DEO) including a point source (S), image analysis means, and an optical cube corner disposed on the moving object. The entrance face of the cube corner has a polygon-shaped mask whose sides have a geometric marking to identify them. The electro-optical fixed device comprises photosensitive means (CM1, CM2) close to (S) and arranged in two different recording planes and recording two light forms in perspective of the mask obtained by reflection on the faces of the cube corner. The image analysis means comprise means for determining in the two recording planes the vanishing points of the two light forms, the knowledge of the four vanishing points allowing the determination of the position and the orientation of the corner of the optical cube relative to the electro-optical fixed device.
