The device has a fixing base (2) including a fixing unit for fixing the stopping device for a door (1) at a case of a motor car or an opening frame. A cam (8) is fixed relative to the base to turn around a cam axis (X8). A torsion spring (10) includes a helicoid portion extending around a spring axis (X10). The spring is arranged to exert one moment of the spring axis on the cam in certain positions of the cam. The spring is arranged such that the spring axis is compared to the cam axis. The spring is deformable between a closing position and an opening position. An independent claim is also included for a door stopping assembly.
