The method involves providing a database comprising recordings of products e.g. shirts (75, 76, 77, 79) and a control input interface comprising an identification field (100) to receive a product reference and a set of characteristics adjustment fields. Specification of product is generated by a generation module in response to reception of control comprising product reference and adjustment data by the interface, where the specification has a characteristic value equal to a preset value contained in the recording of product identified by the reference. An independent claim is also included for a device for designing a product.
