Use of a composition comprising a hydroxy alkylamine compound (I) in the form of base or acid addition salt, as an additive for dry grinding of a hydraulic binder, is claimed. Use of a composition comprising a hydroxy alkylamine compound of formula ((CH 3) a[Alk](OH) b(NH 2) c) (I) in the form of base or acid addition salt, as a grinding additive for dry grinding a hydraulic binder, is claimed. [Alk] : 3-10C-alkyl; and a-c : 1-3. Independent claims are included for: (1) dry grinding of the hydraulic binder, comprising introducing the composition into a ball mill, grinding, and recovering the hydraulic binder having the desired particle size and/or the desired fineness; (2) ground hydraulic binder obtainable by the above method; and (3) a hydraulic composition prepared from the ground hydraulic binder.
