The present invention relates to a novel target of Mycobacterium tuberculosis and its use in the screening of drugs against tuberculosis, more specifically relates to a recombinant Mycobacterium tuberculosis asparaginase, an inhibitor of said protein, and a screening method for selecting said inhibitor. The present invention also provides a mutant strain of Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
