A test bed is disclosed which is designed to be used by railway modellers to check wheels, pickups and connections on electrically driven locomotives and other rolling stock. The test bed comprises three pairs of rollers 1 & 4; 2 & 5; 3 & 6 mounted on a short length of track; each drive wheel of a locomotive to be tested sits on a respective roller. The central pair of rollers 2 & 5 is fixed in place and the outer pairs of rollers 1 & 4 and 3 & 6 are free to slide along the track to enable a range of locomotive wheel arrangements to be accommodated on the test bed. Each of the tracks under the rollers is cut both sides of the central pair of rollers and electrical connections are made to each of the six isolated track sections. Using switches S1-S6 the electrical power to each of the individual rollers 1-6 can be switched off or on, isolating any one, or a group, of roller; thereby allowing each wheel, or pair of wheels of the locomotive to be individually tested.
