PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a friction agitation tool that can make junction firm in the interface between a pair of stacked metal materials.;SOLUTION: The apparatus includes a first rotary tool 21 arranged on one side of a pair of metal materials 5 where an interface 6 is formed and a second rotary tool 22 arranged on the other side: the first rotary tool 21 has a first tool body 31 having a first shoulder part 35 coming in contact with the front surfaces of the pair of metal materials 5, and the second rotary tool 22 has a second tool body 41 having a second shoulder part 45 coming in contact with the back surfaces of the pair of metal materials 5, and a probe 42 that projects from the second tool body 41 toward the first rotary tool 21 and agitates the pair of metal materials 5 sandwiched between the first shoulder part 35 and the second shoulder part 45. The probe 42 includes a first thread groove 51 formed in one side of the outer peripheral surface and a second thread groove 52 formed in the other side of the outer peripheral surface.
