PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable accurate recognition of a commercial product even in situations in which a commercial product put near an imaging unit is illuminated with distance light.;SOLUTION: A commercial product recognition device according to an embodiment includes: an imaging unit; recognition means; a first illumination unit; a second illumination unit; detection means; and control means. The first illumination unit illuminates a commercial product present in a first illumination area closer to the imaging unit within an imaging area. The second illumination unit illuminates a commercial product present in a second illumination area that includes at least a part of the first illumination area and an area farther from the imaging unit than the first illumination area within the imaging area. The detection means detects occurrence of overexposure to an image picked up by the imaging unit. The control means controls a second light-emitting device so that a deviation amount between a next imaging period and a light-emitting period of the second light-emitting device differs from a preset reference value in response to detection of occurrence of the overexposure.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2015,JPO&INPIT
