PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an overload protection method capable of preventing a servo amplifier from exceeding an allowable capacity even when a servo motor continuously operates at a high speed range at a rated torque.SOLUTION: The servo motor overload protection method is a method for determining the overload protection level using an output wattage reference for calculating output wattage based on the revolution speed of the servo motor and output torque. With this, the servo motor can detect an overload during operation in a high speed region at rated torque; thus, the overload protection method capable of protecting the servo amplifier is achieved.
