PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an evaluation method for glossy appearance of photographic printed matter capable of obtaining evaluation results approximate to those of glossy appearance evaluation by the visual sense.;SOLUTION: In the evaluation method for glossy appearance of photographic printed matter, a thermal transfer image receiving sheet and a thermal transfer ink sheet are superposed and the glossy appearance of printed matter with the thermal transfer image receiving sheet having an image formed thereon is evaluated. The evaluation method comprises: projecting a check pattern displayed on a display device onto a surface of a measuring object; photographing a virtual image of the check pattern reflected off the surface of the measuring object; saving in the computer the image data of the photographed check pattern; projecting onto the surface of the measuring object a check pattern in which white grounds and black grounds are split by linear boundary parts, and performing a fitting process to brightness waveforms of the linear boundary parts for each pixel of the saved check pattern image; and calculating, as image clarity of the surface of the measuring object, an average value of the gains of the brightness waveforms calculated by the fitting process, and evaluating the glossy appearance of the photographic printed matter.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2015,JPO&INPIT
