PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aroma retention testing vessel of a packing material and aroma retention testing method of a packing material which enable an analysis and an estimation of an aroma retention in all the film-shaped packing materials regardless of a heat sealing property of the materials.SOLUTION: An aroma retention testing vessel of a packing material includes: an upper cell including a gas injection/extraction part and having an opening part at a lower side; a lower cell with a bottom having the opening part at an upper side; and a connection part that can connect and separate and air tightly connect the opening part of the upper cell and the opening part of the lower cell. The aroma retention of the packing material is estimated by using an aroma retention testing vessel which constitutes a packing material holding part for holding the material arranged between the opening end face of the upper cell and the opening end face of the lower cell by the opening end face of the upper cell and the opening end face of the lower cell, both of which are to be connected, putting an aroma component into the lower cell, holding the packing material by the packing material holding part, air lightly connecting the opening part of the upper cell and the opening part of the lower cell by the connection member, maintaining the upper cell and the lower cell in a constant temperature of the predetermined temperature which is heated and set, and extracting and analyzing a gas inside the upper cell in a constant state and an amount of the aroma component transmitting the packing material and flowing to the upper cell.
