PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carrier tape correction device which can surely exchange (correct) a defective work by a simple work process, and a carrier tape correction method.SOLUTION: In a carrier tape correction device, works 10 are fit into a plurality of recesses 11 formed on a surface of a carrier tape main body 2, and a defective work 10a is taken out of a carrier tape 1 on which a cover tape 4 is adhered so as to cover the recesses 11. A blade die 31 which can cut at once a peripheral edge part 12 of the cover tape 4 located outside the recesses 11 is made to reciprocate vertically with respect to a surface of the carrier tape main body 2. The blade die 31 is formed into a cylindrical form whose cross section shape on a face orthogonal to a vertically-moving direction is rectangle, and comprises a suction mechanism which communicates with a space in the blade die 31 so as to suck air in the blade die 31.
