PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sub-millimeter wave/millimeter wave generation device that enables a millimeter wave or a sub-millimeter wave to be easily and highly efficiently obtained.;SOLUTION: An excitation light source 1 is configured to generate excitation light p and short wavelength light h of a higher frequency than the excitation light p as laser light, respectively. The short wavelength light h is configured to be incident upon an optical parametric oscillator 2, and signal light s of a frequency adjacent to the excitation light p is configured to be generated, and be incident upon an optical coupler 4. The signal light s and the excitation light p are configured to be spatially overlapped via the optical coupler 4, and be incident upon a non-linear type optical element 5 formed of mixed crystal of GaSe crystal and GaS crystal as one beam of light. When the excitation light p and the signal light s are configured to be incident upon the non-linear type optical element 5 within a prescribed phase matching an allowance angle α, the excitation light p and the signal light s pass through the non-linear type optical element 5 as exciting the non-linear type optical element 5. Accordingly, on the basis of an optical parametric action of the non-linear type optical element 5, an output wave m is configured to be generated that serves as a millimeter wave or sub-millimeter wave of a wavelength within a range of 100 to 1200 μm equivalent to a difference between these two frequencies.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2015,JPO&INPIT
