PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thick film dielectric electroluminescent display low in operating voltage, having no pixel cross-talk, and improved in operating life.;SOLUTION: In an electroluminescent display 10 including a composite thick film dielectric structure, the structure includes: a composite thick film dielectric layer 20; one or more layers 22 of an aluminum oxide provided on the top surface of the composite thick film dielectric layer and doped with other atomic species, the layers having a thickness of 25-50 nm, functioning as a barrier to deleterious ions and being minimally conductive; a barium titanate layer 24; and a thin film phosphor layer 40.
