PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microfluidic contaminant trap to prevent contaminants in a sample from flowing into a column in gas chromatography.SOLUTION: A microfluidic contaminant trap comprises: an inlet 204 configured to connect directly or indirectly to a sample inlet of a gas chromatography (GC) system; an outlet 205 configured to connect directly to an inlet of a GC column, or indirectly to the GC column via another fluidic component; an interlayer 202 comprising a channel 210; an upper layer 201 disposed over and bonded to the interlayer 202; and a coating disposed over the channel 210. The coating reduces interactions between a sample and the microfluidic contaminant trap.
