PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for evaluating the degree of nucleic acid damage.SOLUTION: The method for evaluating the degree of nucleic acid damage comprises controlling conditions of polymerase chain reaction so that each production efficiency of two or more amplification products is substantially equal when producing two or more amplification products with each different sequence length using two or more different primer pairs from the template nucleic acid sequence which is not subjected to disintegration with polymerase chain reaction; producing two or more amplification products using two or more primer pairs from the template nucleic acid sequence subjected to disintegration under the controlled conditions of polymerase chain reaction to calculate each different production efficiency of two or more amplification products; and determining the degree of the template nucleic acid sequence damage based on each of the different production efficiency of two or more amplification products produced from the template nucleic acid sequence subjected to disintegration.
