PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device of diagnosing abnormality of an electromagnetic field generator in a continuous casting machine which can conduct insulation diagnosis of an electromagnetic coil of an electromagnetic field generator installed in a continuous casting machine in a short period, and to provide a continuous casting method.;SOLUTION: The starting timing for next casting when the application of electromagnetic field by an electromagnetic coil 15 becomes unnecessary is detected by detecting that a cast slab 7 is taken out from a mold 4 as an electromagnetic field application region by the electromagnetic coil 15 while a continuous casting machine 1 is operated. The connection between the electromagnetic coil 15 and a power supply 17 for generating electromagnetic field is cut at the timing, and constant d.c. voltage (test voltage) is applied to the electromagnetic coil 15 by a d.c. voltage generator 21 and insulation test for the electromagnetic coil 15 is conducted.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT
