PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resol-type phenolic resin having both toughness and heat resistance.;SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing the resol-type phenolic resin comprises reacting a modified phenol, a phenol and an aldehyde. The modified phenol is obtained by reacting a phenol and an α,β-unsaturated ketone, particularly such as acrylamide.
