PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accomplish a hydrospace detection apparatus capable of accurately discriminating the kind of a target.;SOLUTION: A water depth information acquiring section 70 calculates a water depth Dep of each PING on the basis of an echo signal and gives it to an arithmetic area setting section 44. An operation input section 80 receives setting of a setting area ARe for histogram calculation and gives it to the arithmetic area setting section 44. For each PING of the setting area ARe, the arithmetic area setting section 44 confirms the presence/absence of the water depth Dep and confirms whether the water depth Dep is present between a minimum water depth and a maximum water depth in the setting area ARe. On the basis of the presence/absence of the water depth Dep and a relationship between the water depth Dep and the minimum depth and the maximum depth in the setting area ARe, the arithmetic area setting section 44 sets an application area RAr so as not to include a bubble exhaust block or a sea-bottom area in the area for histogram calculation and gives it to a ΔSV histogram calculation section 42.
