PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a document management system by which document data requested by a user can be acquired from a document data management device and displayed quickly with the minimum amount of communication, even with the small amount of transmission of data per unit time of a communication line connecting a document browsing device and the document data management device.;SOLUTION: A document browsing device transmits information indicating final update time to be stored in advance for document management information including at least identification information of document data.
