PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of supporting a magnetic oxide or a dielectric oxide on a coil-shaped carbon fiber, which previously had been difficult to be supported on a coil-shaped carbon fiber.SOLUTION: The present invention comprises the steps of: dispersing coil-shaped carbon fibers into aqueous solution of a metal chloride that is a raw material of a magnetic oxide or a dielectric oxide; coprecipitating a metal hydroxide and the coil-shaped carbon fibers by adding alkali into a mixture obtained in the dispersing step comprising the metal chloride, coil-shaped carbon fibers and water to adjust the pH of the mixture to strong alkali over or equal to pH 12; and crystallizing the magnetic oxide or the dielectric oxide such that the oxide is supported on the surface of the coil-shaped carbon fiber by maintaining the temperature of coprecipitate comprising the metal hydroxide and the coil-shaped carbon fibers obtained in the coprecipitating step at 50°C or higher.
