PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic comic viewer and a method therefor which reproduce sound effects drawn in a comic.;SOLUTION: A sound reproduction unit 26 determines speech corresponding to a detailed image currently displayed by a content display control unit 25, sound corresponding to the speech, and incidental sound corresponding to a frame to which the speech belongs, and acquires information concerning sound reproduction (text information, attribute information of characters, attribute information for automatic reading-aloud, and sound effects)from incidental information. The sound reproduction unit 26 reproduces incidental sound based on the acquired incidental information. A start and an end of display of speech in a balloon is synchronized with a start and an end of reading-aloud of the speech in the balloon.
