The present invention provides a nanoformulation comprising folic acid functionalized liquid crystalline nanoparticles for delivery of anti-cancer agents and a process for preparing the same. The LCNPs were prepared by hydrotrope method with suitable co-solvent and a biphasic drug release pattern was observed from developed formulation. The developed nanoformulation resulted in increased antitumor efficacy, longer circulation half-life and higher safety profile for Docetaxel, a model anti-cancer agent.
