A METHOD OF EVALUATING THE EFFICIENCY OF TREATMENT OF PATIENTS WITH PULMONARY SARCOIDOSIS OF A II-III STAGE WITH SYSTEMIC CORTICOSTEROIDS

A method of evaluating the efficiency of treatment of patients with pulmonary sarcoidosis of a II-III stage with systemic corticosteroids provides dynamic, at least twice, examination of the chest cavity using high-resolution computed tomography. 3 months after the initiation of treatment control examination is performed with recording of results of examination on a digital storage and software processing of the results. Identical axial slices of the initial and control examination are analyzed with calculation of the mean density of the lung parenchyma in areas of their maximum change and the treatment is considered as effective if the average density of lung tissue after 3 months of treatment is less than (-885.9) Hounsfield units, compared to the original data. The treatment is considered ineffective if the average density of lung tissue at a given area, is in the range of (-824.1 to -885.9) Hounsfield units or more than (-824.1) Hounsfield units, compared to the original data, in this case the treatment requires continuation for at least 3 months.
