Process for the transformation of aliphatic hydrocarbons with 1 to 4 C atoms into aromatic hydrocarbons, comprising the steps of: a) reaction of a reagent stream E, which contains at least one aliphatic hydrocarbon with 1 to 4 C atoms, in presence of a catalyst under non-oxidizing conditions giving a product stream P containing aromatic hydrocarbons and hydrogen, and b) electrochemical separation of at least a part of the hydrogen that is generated in the reaction of the product stream P by a membrane assembly- dense gas electrodes, which has at least one membrane that selectively conducts protons and has at least one electrode catalyst on each side of the membrane, at least a portion of the hydrogen in the anode catalyst being oxidized on the membrane retained part giving protons and the protons are reacted after crossing the membrane through the part of the permeate in the catalyst of the cát water with oxygen giving water, the oxygen being derived from a stream O containing oxygen, which is brought into contact with the permeate part of the membrane.
